An NFL prediction...

It'll be a very Brady AFC Championship this year. After Brady Quinn and the Cleveland Browns defeated Vince Young and the Tennessee Titans yesterday, the most anticipated match-up since Manning vs Brady will take place next week in the AFC title game. Where the 2 time defending Superbowl champs, the New England Patriots, will face off against the upstart Browns. The "Brady Bowl" as it has been coined so popularly in the press will take place in the cold confines of Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Coming of a season where they only lost 1 game (to the Philadelphia Eagles), the Patriots are the heavy favorite to represent the AFC in the Superbowl for the third straight year.
The Browns have had a tougher road to the title game where they endured an 0-5 start which brought about the almost deafening cries for head coach Tyrone Willingham's firing. In an attempt to salvage the season, and perhaps his job, GM Phil Savage fired the year old coach and enticed Charlie Weis over from Notre Dame with the highest salary ever paid for a professional sports coach. Immediately, the Browns turned their season around behind a reborn Brady Quinn. Many were throwing around the bust word about Quinn after carrying a sub-60 passer rating in his 24 career starts, but not Coach Weis, "I have believed in Brady since I first came to Notre Dame, and my faith in him has never wavered." Leading the Browns to an 11-1 record for the remainder of the season, Brown's fans have been quick to forget the dreadful seasons Quinn has had in his first two years in the league. By rolling through the playoffs on the arm of Quinn and the defense of former head coach Romeo Crennel, the Browns are quick to dismiss the very public opinion that they have little chance against the powerhouse Patriots. "They are a very good football team" says Quinn "but so are we, and we're out to prove the doubters wrong."
The Patriots, however, have steamrolled through the NFL the past three years behind the dynamic duo of Tom Brady and Randy Moss. The two have combined for the 3 best, at least statistically, regular seasons between a quarterback and wide received in NFL history. Moss, who recently became a born again Christian and is looking to become a reverend (Patriots' fans say saint-hood is more fitting) after his NFL career, has remarkably changed the league's perception about him from his bad boy days when his was with the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders. Him and Brady, who was never really in doubt, are now viewed as not only sure hall of famers, but to some, the greatest QB/WR combo in history.
Many are pointing out the various subplots associated with this AFC title game. Not only the wonderful reincarnation of Brady Quinn by his former college coach Weis, but also the fact that Bill Belichek, the head coach of the Patriots, will be facing off against his former assistant coaches in Weis and Crennel. But perhaps the biggest draw for this game will have nothing to do with past relationships or rivalries, but the chance to see the two golden boys of the NFL battle it out. Besides sharing a name, the two QB's have hollywood looks and some have even called this a "passing of the torch" from the great Tom Brady to the newest legend-in-the-making, Brady Quinn. With all the story lines involved in a game of this magnitude, many believe this will be a bigger draw than the actual Superbowl, and certainly greater than the NFC Championship game. The NFC title pits the Philadelphia Eagles against the (increasingly all-luck) Dallas Cowboys, a game in which the experts have billed a warm-up for Superbowl for the Eagles. Regardless of the outcome, the Brady Bowl is sure to entertain.

Ok, so my Eagles draft grade? I'll give them a C since I like the Tony Hunt pick a lot. I have no idea why they picked the 5th best quarterback in the beginning of the 2nd round. Anthony Spencer, the player the Cowboys drafted with the pick we traded them (?!?!?!?!?!?!), will haunt the Eagles for the next decade. As a Philadelphia sports team, this is almost inevitable.
A final thought...I think the NFL should do a realignment. The NFC is considered to be the more hard nosed of the two leagues with teams like the Eagles, Bears, Packers, Giants, Redskins and etc. while the AFC is the more finesse league with teams like the Colts, Bengals, Broncos, Chargers, Dolphins, and etc. So why not align the two leagues so that the rough and tough teams are in the same conference and the prettier, more offensive, teams are in the other league. Here's my idea for the leagues/divisions while keeping rivalries intact and not caring, for the most part, where cities are located (it's the freaking 21st century, a 2 hour flight is not much better than a 6 hour flight)....
First, get rid of the Texans, Cardinals, Dolphins, Bucs, Panthers, Jaguars, Titans, and Rams, nobody cares about those teams anyway. This will also get rid of the diluted talent pool that is the NFL right now with starting quarterbacks like Charlie Frye and Andrew Walters. How great would it be that almost every team in the league would have a quality qb? Now with the 24 remaining teams we'll have 3 divisions in each conference, East, Central, and West. Division winners + 1 wild card team makes the playoffs. No weeks off for the top teams, you pansies.
NFC East (don't mess with perfection)
Philadelphia Eagles...McNabb
Dallas Cowboys...Romo
New York Giants...Manning
Washington Redskins...we'll give them Leinhart
NFC Central (the mean teams)
Chicago Bears...we'll give them Bulger
Green Bay Packers...Favre
Oakland Raiders...Russell
Baltimore Ravens...McNair
NFC West (Awesome rivalry possibilities here)
Pittsburgh Steelers...Roethlisberger
Cleveland Browns...Quinn
Cincinnati Bengals...Palmer
San Francisco 49ers...Smith
AFC East (Pats and Colts deserve each other)
New England Patriots...Brady
Indianapolis Colts...Manning
NY Jets...Pennington
Buffalo Bills...Losman
AFC Central (all dome teams together-minus the colts)
Minnesota Vikings...we'll give them Schaub
Detroit Lions...we'll give them Vince Young (on turf + Calvin Jonhson = scary)
New Orleans Saints...Brees
Atlanta Falcons...Vick (oooo yeah, Vick vs Young IV)
AFC West (the old rivalries reunite)
Seattle Seahawks...Hasselback
San Diego Chargers...Rivers
Denver Broncos...Cutler
Kansas City Chiefs...we'll give them Delhomme
I'm in, let me know what you think.
